Barcelona beat Real Madrid in Spain's Supercup on Wednesday, 3-2, with a 5-4 aggregate. Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho showed him self to be a bit of soar loser when he gouged the eye of Barcelona Assistant Coach Villanova following the dust-up that occurred after Marcelo picked up a red card for a tackle on Barcelona's newest player, Cesc Fabregas.

The final Clasico of the 2010-2011 European club football season took place yesterday in Barcelona where Barcelona and Real Madrid battled to a 1-1 draw in the second leg of the Champions League semifinal. In the end, Barcelona beat Real Madrid with a 3-1 aggregate to advance to the Champions League Final, which will occur on Saturday May 28th at Wembley Stadium in London. Later today we'll find out whether it'll be Manchester United or Schalke 04 that will face Barcelona at Wembley. Manchester United currently leads that match up with its 2-0 victory at Schalke last week.

Yesterday's Clasico was not as entertaining as last week's Clasico where Messi picked up a brace, Pepe picked up a controversial red card, and Jose Mourinho was ejected from the technical area. Therefore, it's not surprising that the Spanish press has been focused on the interesting hand gestures that both Ronaldo and Mourinho made at the airport following yesterday's match. The hand gestures, which you can see in the video below, are not really funny gang signs, rather it is a Spanish hand gesture for: We got robbed. Funny that it was a couple guys from Portugal throwing this Spanish hand sign.

Lionel Messi's Brace Gives Barcelona the Lead in Champions League Clasico

Football fans have been treated to three Clasicos in the month of April, with one more left to go in May. First, Barcelona and Real Madrid played to a draw in league play and then Real Madrid took bragging rights by beating Barcelona in the Copa del Rey. On Wednesday, it was the first leg of the Champions League Clasico as the two top teams from Spain met in the European semifinals. For a good chunk of the match, it looked like the teams were battling to a 0-0 draw, but then Lionel Messi went and did what he's been doing all season, he scored a couple goals giving Barcelona a 2-0 win. The teams meet again at Camp Nou on Tuesday May 3rd to see who goes to Wembley for the Champions League final.

Kaka Scores a Goal for Real Madrid & Jose Mourinho Gets a Bottle Thrown at Him

On Sunday, Real Madrid hosted Villarreal in an entertaining, goal filled match that saw Real Madrid come from behind to beat Villarreal 4-2. The hero for Real Madrid was Cristiano Ronaldo who's hat-trick propelled Real Madrid to victory; however, Ronaldo's third goal was not without controversy:



With Ronaldo's third goal, the scoreline was 3-2 in favor of Real Madrid, but Villarreal, who had led twice during the match, showed no signs of giving up and was clearly capable of getting an equalizer at the Bernabeu. However, Villarreal's hopes of leaving Madrid with at least a point were dashed in the 82nd minute when Kaka, who subbed on for Raúl Albiol in the 70th minute, scored. As a result of Kaka's goal, Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho decided to celebrate in front of Villarreal's bench:



As you can see, the Villarreal bench did not take too kindly to Mourinho's celebration and Cani threw a bottle at Mourinho. While at least one person suggested the draconian response of arresting Cani and banning him for two seasons, common sense prevailed at the Bernabeu and Cani received a red card, and only a red card.

Villarreal, currently third on the La Liga table, host Osasuna on Saturday and Real Madrid, second on the table, face Almeria on Sunday.

Since the start of the 208-09 Serie A season, Jose Mourinho has really had a rocky relationship with the press and others within Serie A, some of which is discussed on the latest episode of World Soccer Wrap: Serie A (now available for free on iTunes). The latest controversy involving the Special One . . . He has now basically said that outside of Italy, Serie A is a very small league and he feels that Italians really don't care about the league's perception in the rest of the world. And more bizarre, he has accussed Italians of not being as in love with football as he had thought.

Despite all of his contributions to football, I really think Jose is a bit off base here. Jose, time for you to focus on what is happening on the pitch because off of the pitch, you're digging a big hole for yourself. I think you need to take some time to hit Latin America and South America where the football of the Spanish and Italian leagues is much preferred to that found in the EPL, the commercial entity that overshadows all other European leagues despite a product that isn't all that consistent.

Thursday: A Million Little Fibers

First off, the Houston Dynamo made their 2008 CONCACAF Champions Cup debut last night, taking on CSD Municipal in Guatemala City. The game resulted in a 0 -0 draw, and while the Dynamo would have liked a win and the away goal it would bring, this is the first time that the Dynamo have not lost an away leg in the CCC. The Dynamo looked good, but not great, and between luck and the steller goal tending of Pat Onstad, Municipal could have easily had a win. On the whole the defense looked much improved since the Osaka Gamba game in the PPC, much of that was due to the presence of Craig Waibel and Eddie Robinson. Once again the midfield had a good game, but it was up front that the Dynamo were soft. The second leg of the tie will be held at Robertson Stadium in Houston on Wednesday night.

More news about the Dynamo's international play was released today. The Dynamo have been grouped with Atlante, Chivas Guadalajara, and DC United in the 2008 SuperLiga. Houston will host Atlante on July 12 and Chivas on July 15, then play at D.C. on July 19.

The Dynamo at FC Dallas drama continues, due to accomodating a concert (so much for the Slice being a soccer specific stadium), that leg of the Texas Derby will be held on Wednesday May 28, 2008. Yet another blow to the concept of fostering a great atmosphere within the stands, its a school night and the Houston SGs will be represented, but not in the numbers that would have been there on a Saturday or Sunday.

In the will he or won't he bin, Inter President Massimo Moratti has indicated that Roberto Mancini will not be leaving at the end of the season. I suspect that Mancini will be gone, but Moratti is trying to stop the disintigration in the locker room, disintigration that could give Roma a leg up in closing the 6 point gap with Inter.
